Moss Agate: So Much More than the Midwives’ Stone
Zodiac: Virgo, Gemini
Chakra: Heart
Numerical Vibration: 1
Moss agate is one of my favorite agates, with its clear-to-milky-white tones decorated with deep green inclusions. It is associated with the heart chakra and has been a great stone to grab when in need of some emotional stability during this very trying year for all of us. It also connects one with the Earth, which has been needing a lot of love this summer as well.
However, one of the main reasons I started working with moss agate with my clients is for the stone’s ability to support pre/postnatal needs. It is great for releasing fear associated with pregnancy and labor, allowing for embracing the gradual expansion of the body, and generally having a positive outlook on the journey. It is called the “midwives’” stone, assisting with the delivery, as they are present with bringing a new life into the world. I personally gifted both my midwives a handmade moss agate necklace when I began labor.
Another great time to grab your moss agate is during planting and harvesting season. Whenever you are wanting a deeper connection to the Earth, tuck a piece in your pocket, bring in the abundance of your crop and get your hands in that dirt! Even in the house, I like placing a nugget in the soil of a plant on my windowsill and letting the energy go to work.
And let’s talk about that abundance! Moss agate is great to pair with your citrine to give your business a boost. With the seclusion from the pandemic, many small businesses have struggled. If you are an entrepreneur, place a piece of moss agate in your cash box, setting an intention of abundance. Meditate with it, allowing yourself to see the growth you want to manifest for your career. Plant that seed, and watch it grow.
Moss agate is wonderful for the emotional support we all need right now, too. If you feel overwhelmed with all the weight that this year has brought, hold that nugget tight to your heart space and just breathe. Release those emotions out into the universe. Make space for hope for what the day can bring for you. Allow this time to fill your cup up – and to find harmony where there once was chaos. If you are feeling drained, let this stone help give you the break you need with purpose.
With the stress from a global pandemic and the oncoming cold and flu season, you can use this stone for additional immune support. Again, holding the stone at your heart space, allow yourself to breathe deeply into your lungs. Let your heart gently lift and fall with a steady pace. Repeat a mantra to yourself, “My lungs are strong,” on each inhale. And, “My lungs are healthy,” on each exhale. Visualize clarity with each breath. And if you are struggling with poor air quality as the forest fires rage, allow that breath to connect to this moment. Reflect on what is burning and put focus on healing that will come from this phase of life. Let any fears pass with the flame and embrace the clarity to be able to grow within yourself.
